On August 11th, Governor Dayton declared that the week of September 11-17 be recognized as Direct Support Professionals Week, as part of the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR)’s National Advocacy Campaign.
The Occupational Development Center (ODC) is pleased to have the state of Minnesota join in this recognition of Direct Support Professionals. It is important to honor and thank the tens of thousands of workers who enable people with intellectual, developmental and other significant disabilities and their families to live healthy lives in their communities.
“We try and teach people to be the best at whoever they are, to work with the abilities they have. Not everyone is the same, but everyone is important.” said Caryl Reed, Lead Habilitation and Teaching Center Instructor, Thief River Falls Division.
“Our Direct Support Professionals are committed, hard working people who sacrifice a lot to support and mentor individuals with disabilities.” said ODC CEO June Schelde, “This recognition week is a way to say thank you to those professionals and to remind community and state legislatures that their workforce is essential.”
Please join ODC in thanking and recognizing Direct Support Professionals during the week of September 11, for their dedication, support and service to individuals with disabilities.
