Choose your scenario:
- Returning to your campsite after a long day of hiking in the rain – and your gear is soaking
- Gathering with your family around the backyard firepit to share stories, watch the stars and make s’mores – but you’re short on kindling
- Needing to light your indoor fireplace on a cold morning – without leaving flammable residue behind
In each of these cases, Firelites can be used to reliably build a fire.
Made from wax-coated strips of recycled paper, Firelites work when wet (and even frozen!)—perfect for providing the heat required to dry out camping gear and making the most of what Mother Nature throws your way.
Guaranteed to burn for at least 12 minutes, Firelites are a dependable complement to kindling—and a perfect conversation starter to boot! Each purchase of a pack of Firelites helps support employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Some fire starters leave behind a flammable residue that can exacerbate existing flue buildup, increasing the chance of chimney fires. Firelites burn clean, leaving no residue as they consist of just paper and wax—making them safe for indoor fireplaces! They also contain no harsh additives or chemicals.
If you want a dependable start to your summer campfires, stock up on Firelites now to avoid being left in the cold!
HOW FIRELITES ARE MADE
ODC’s Firelites are produced at our International Falls division by some of the wonderful and hardworking individuals we serve. It all starts with a pile of shredding. Batches of shredded paper are delivered to our division and stuffed into paper portion cups. Meanwhile, chunks of recycled candle wax are melted in a crockpot. When the right temperature and consistency is reached, the cups of shredded paper are dipped into the wax and then set aside to dry. Then it’s time to package them up and prepare them for distribution.
Firelites are available for purchase at two locations in International Falls: our office at 1600 20th Avenue West, and the Falls License Bureau downtown. If Int’l Falls is a little out of your way, don’t fret—Firelites can also be found at our Buhl division or in our three DMV locations in Grand Rapids, Hibbing and Virginia.
