Do us a favor, pull out your State ID or Drivers License. Is there a little red word that reads DONOR?
April 15 was, National Donate Life Blue and Green Day, a day designated to promote the success of organ, eye, and tissue transplants and the need for people to be registered donors.
According to the Donate Life Website, nearly all people who are registered to be donors do so when they apply for a renewal or new drivers license or State ID card.
Statistics show that 124,000 men, women, and children are currently awaiting an organ, eye, or tissue transplant.
For the first time, the Grand Rapids Motor Vehicle Department, owned by the Occupational Development Center, took part in promoting the benefits of being a registered donor.
Donate Life’s mission is: To drive individuals, organizations and communities to increase the number of designated organ, eye, and tissue donors who save and heal lives.
We are proud to announce that our Grand Rapids Motor Vehicle Department has received an award for their efforts to raise awareness for Donate Life.
All proceeds from the Grand Rapids Motor Vehicle Department go towards providing employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities through the ODC.
Remember, when you spend money locally, it goes back into your community.
