There is no stopping Robin…
On March 13, 2014, Robin joined the Occupational Development Center (ODC). She was referred to us to complete an assessment and then begin the Placement Program. During the assessment, Robin was able to try a variety of jobs and was very vocal about which ones she enjoyed. “I know the kinds of jobs I like to do,” said Robin.
In just 77 days after the start of her assessment, Robin began a job weeding at a local hospital/clinic on May 28, 2014. She was excellent in this position and worked at the job site for 2 consecutive summers.
And that just wasn’t enough for Robin, along with the weeding job, she also began working at a janitorial job with ODC in September of 2014. Then, a month later, she started at the Minnesota State Lottery office in Virginia.
Since then, she has been working at 4 other job sites with ODC. She is committed to putting her best foot forward, doing jobs where she can use her skills on a daily basis. “I like working hard, keeping things clean and keeping on time.” Robin said, “I have gotten to know people at the job sites well. They recognize me when I am in the community and ask how I am doing. They even ask me how I do at Special Olympics!”
Robin now works two to four days per week, depending on the job sites that she is working at each particular week. Her supervisor at the MN Lottery Office stated, “There are so many things that come to mind when we think of Robin at our office. She is personable, considerate and takes pride in her work. She is full of positive energy, talkative and most of all, friendly. She even joins in on the back and forth “ribbing” with the staff here. Since she began here in October 2014, Robin has become a part of the lottery family. We are fortunate to have her here with us.”
Robin has been a great asset to the ODC Virginia team. She is a hard working, dedicated employee, who goes above and beyond to help out her co-workers. Thank you for all that you do Robin! You are greatly appreciated by all of us!
