Chambers will continue to lead restructuring of financial department
THIEF RIVER FALLS, MINN. — The Occupational Development Center (ODC) is proud to announce the recent promotion of Mari Chambers to Chief Financial Officer.
Chambers, who has been with ODC for just over a year in her role as Vice President of Finance, holds an MBA and came to the organization from the for-profit world with over 20 years of accounting experience—thirteen of those years having been spent at the VP of Finance level.
“Mari has easily tackled the challenge of shifting from the concrete environment of the for-profit world to learning and adapting to the inherent differences of a small nonprofit,” said ODC President/CEO June Schelde.
When asked about her reaction to the news, Chambers noted she was deeply touched by this recognition of her efforts. “It felt good to be recognized for the challenges that this year came with,” said Chambers. “I look forward to guiding ODC through making the necessary changes in order to be able to continue to provide for the individuals we serve.”
Originally drawn to the organization from a desire to work for a nonprofit, Chambers is a firm believer in ODC’s mission. “What I do directly helps individuals and not a large corporation,” says Chambers. “I feel that what I do actually does make a difference.”
Chambers will continue to work from the ODC administration center in Thief River Falls.
