After working at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji for over 26 years, Melissa “Missy” Fagerstrom has retired from her position as a Unit Aide!
A gathering was held to celebrate and recognize Missy for her years of service. It was well attended by coworkers and support staff she had worked alongside for many years. Many spoke of how they would miss working with her, and all had a warm hug and a smile to share.
Missy started out with the Occupational Development Center right out of high school. As a Unit Aide at Havenwood, Missy would assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the residents’ spaces at the facility by cleaning beds, changing linens, and replacing their utensils.
Missy’s mother, Rose Fagerstrom, was instrumental in starting the ODC enclave at Havenwood. Rose was a part of the nursing staff at Havenwood at the time, and the care center was in need of workers. It was an ideal time to create the enclave with ODC. The 3-6 individuals in the enclave were woven into the family of residents and staff at Havenwood over the years; all working closely together to create a supportive and inclusive environment and atmosphere for everyone.
Congratulations, Missy, and thank you for all of your hard work!
