“Music is his thing.” said Harvey’s mother. And it all began in the 3rd grade when Harvey started playing the piano. In 9th grade, he began to accompany the school choir, which he still continues to do to this day. Harvey has been involved with many different aspects of the Baudette community’s arts and music. He has been involved in the Children’s theater and currently participates in the Borderland Orchestra, Community Band, Paquana Playhouse, Church Choir and is the Church organist. He and his family also sing with the Washburn family, which they lovingly call the Washburn/Lein Band, this family sings for numerous events, most recently for the Memorial day service.
Harvey has perfect pitch. When he hears a song, either on the radio or television, he can tell you what key it is in, on the spot. One day while watching The Big Bang Theory, there was a song playing. The character Sheldon said, “That song is in D.” and Harvey said, “No. D flat.” We checked and Harvey was correct, the song was in D flat.
Among all of those accomplishments, Harvey is also a star worker at the ODC. He began working in June of 2012. He has many different positions including, janitorial work at Hometown Hardware and the ODC; as well as, meal server and clean up during lunch in the Dining Room of the Brink Senior Center. And getting back to the music, he plays piano for the residence at LakeWood Care Center. Harvey is committed to being an excellent employee with ODC and sharing his musical talents in any way he can.
